After morning breakfast we meet for a brief devotion and discussion of plan for the day. We load the bus with clinic equipment/medications which travel to and from each location daily. The clinic locations may be anywhere from 20-90 minutes away. After arrival the pharmacy location and provider locations are determined. There will be a check-in where weights and blood pressures are taken and a translator will help take a chief complaint and medical history. Patients are then directed to an appropriate provider where a translator and assistant are located. We will have one translator available for those patients who only speak Creole (Haitian tongue). After visiting with a provider the patient may then move to the pharmacy. The assistant for each provider will assist in helping with the flow of patients to and from check-in and the pharmacy. These roles are determined daily based on the needs of the team and location served. We frequently have a local provider participating on some days as well. The days are long and hot. Continue to drink water. Lunches are provided. There will be dedicated bottled water for you to refill throughout the day. You may bring snacks as you desire.
